Well I do agree, but I hate that 19th Ave adds so much time to my trips to San Jose because there is no way to get through without tons of lights. And the fucking lights stop traffic when nobody is at a cross street!

I think 19th actually works remarkably well! At least it’s definitely not the tragedy you imagine when you picture swapping out a freeway for a surface street. A tunnel connecting the Golden Gate Bridge to 280 would obviously be amazing, but overall I’m very happy with how quickly you can move around the Bay Area as long as your schedule is flexible.

They messed with the lights. I come home late from SJ if I work a show there, getting home to Marin. They have the lights stop for no reason a lot, not a single other car around. A tunnel would be great, I used to go from Haneda airport in Tokyo and stay underground for like a half hour before popping up closer to Shinjuku where I stayed. I don’t want to see ugly highways but a tunnel would be nice. I live in larkspur, where the ferry goes. They built the tracks back up for a train from up north. So now you get off a train and then have to get on a ferry or bus. In the future they need to get the train across the richmond san rafael bridge to connect to Bart. It’s insane.

Pretty strange use case for you! I can see the Sunset deciding to screw up the timing at night to slow people down. You might be better off continuing to 101, then onto Octavia, Fell, the Panhandle, etc. and re-join at Fulton & Park Presidio. It’s longer but you’ll rarely have to stop.
